
Overview:
More than 10.000 families have been affected in three generations (parents, children and grandchildren). There are couples with five children, and subsequently their children have been born disabled. Some women affected by Agent Orange have given birth to as many as nine children, all whom have died after of a period of time. Families suffering the debilitating effects of Agent Orange through multiple generations are financially struggling to survive. These families are living in leaky and extremely dilapidated houses and need financial support to re-build their homes. Project Objective: To give Agent Orange victims a shelter to replace their dilapidated houses. To improve their health and hygiene conditions.

Thai Binh is an agricultural province located 100 km from Hanoi in the coastal area the of Vietnamese Northern Delta. It is the only province in Vietnam that does not have a mountain in its territory. The coast line is 53 km long with large estuaries, seaports, and sandy beaches. The main ethnic group in this area is Kinh. Although their lifestyle has improved in the current economic development, Thai Binh is still a poor province facing many hardships. One of the biggest difficulties that they have had to cope with is the serious consequences resulting from the use of ‘Agent Orange’ toxic herbicides during the American – Vietnam war. The use of Agent Orange during the war killed thousands of people and soldiers in Thai Binh Province, and 30 years later thousands more still suffer the ravages left behind from the use of Agent Orange herbicides. About 50,000 victims of Agent Orange continue to suffer both spiritually and physically, with enduring ailments destroying their lives.
